What are the best times to post on Facebook?

2000px-facebook-reversed-svgWhen it comes to social media marketing, timing is everything.  Your main goal with a Facebook business page is to send posts when people are around to see them. And a larger audience means more opportunities to boost engagement, drive traffic, and gain potential new followers and customers. So when is the best time to post?

It all comes down to your audience and who you’re trying to target, your marketing goals, and your content. But while there is no perfect time to post, there are resources that can help you find the best times.

On Facebook, a post reaches 75% of its potential engagement in five hours.  However because of the complicated News Feed algorithm, getting your timing right on Facebook isn’t always easy.

We have personally found that the best times to post on Facebook is between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (people are on their dinner breaks) and after 5pm when they are at home. And on Saturday and Sunday between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m.

A report from Social Media management tool Hootsuite found that – there was much lower engagement on the weekend, but there is a spike in click-throughs on posts published between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m.

That being said, you should test and track results using engagement data gleaned from your own Facebook’s Page Insights. Use these times as a starting point, but always be testing and measuring results to find what works best for you and your business.

Branding and Social Media

Social media is powering people in ways many have never imagined. Its now a critical tool for many businesses, not just for creating sales and attracting new customers, but also spreading brand awareness. Because of this it is vital that your branding is consistent and flows right through all your Social media platforms. Here are some top tips to help with branding in Social Media.

1) Ensure you have a consistent colour palette.

This goes without saying, if you look at the colours of any well known brand, you’ll see that they use the same colour scheme throughout everything they do. In their logo, in their text, their images, their Social media banners. When it comes to branding using the same colour scheme over and over again will help consumers become familiar with your brand identity.

Depending on how you want to be seen as a business, the colours you choose should reflect what your brand stands for. If you have a youthful brand, you might like to use bright colours. On the other hand, pastel colours work great for brands who want to be seen as welcoming and gentle.

2) Typography to match your brand identity’s personality.

Just like with choosing the correct colour, your choice of font should reflect what you and your brand stand for.

A minimum of two fonts and a maximum of four is usually best when creating a brand and using them consistently throughout all of your Social media images and material is crucial. Don’t mix and match depending on what you like that day. Once you have your font’s stick with them.  Notice the banner below that was created for Utter Creatives Facebook page? Here two fonts are used – Bebas and Raleway. These font are the only fonts EVER used in all marketing materials.

3) Select the right imagery and filters.

Ensure you pick imagery that has a consistent theme. A great website for free images is pixabay.com it has great stock photography – and is a great option if you’re on a budget. If you’re taking your own photos, make sure you keep your theme consistent, too.

Something else to consider is your brand filters. If you decide to use filters over any images ensure to stick with the same ones/same styles.

4) Template design for Social Media.

Do you have a template for your social media posts? If not then you should consider designing one. Coming up with a style guide will help make sure all elements of your brand on Social media work in harmony. For example, you might want to add weekly tips or quotes, that you can share with your community. Below is an example of one we did recently for a client. TE-poster-example.png

Why Social Media is important to your Business

Most business owners know how important social media is to their businesses. Social media management will enable your company to reach thousands of potential new customers online. When it comes to your social media, there’s no point in trying to re-inventing the wheel. Instead, look at what other businesses are doing that have helped them with their success when using social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. Many companies use an objective-orientated service, which ensures that every action you take brings you one step closer to your goals whilst achieving results online.

Social media if used correctly can give your business or brand great exposure whilst drawing in the type of audience you want to attract.  Furthermore, the benefits of social media means that getting to know your audience is now easier then ever. Whilst giving your business the opportunity to increase its visibility. In a nutshell your social media networks are just new channels for your brand’s voice and content.

Social media is also a great way to improve brand loyalty, whilst helping more opportunities to convert into leads and even sales.

To ensure maximum return on investment, you need to invest time in social media relationships with your audience. The more time you invest, the more valuable these relationships become. For example; someone who may not be a sales lead right away, can often convert months later, as they get used to seeing your brand. So when they need a service that you provide you will be the first to spring to mind.
